The Skilled Worker Visa — 70 Points Required
Mandatory 50 points: Job offer from approved sponsor (20pts) + job at required skill level TEER 0–3 (20pts) + English language skills (10pts).
Tradeable 20 points from: Salary £38,700+ (20pts) | Salary £30,960–£38,699 (10pts) | Shortage occupation (20pts) | PhD relevant to role (10pts) | PhD in STEM (20pts).
Minimum salary threshold 2026: £38,700/year or the going rate for the occupation — whichever is higher. New entrant rate: £30,960.
Other Key Work Visa Routes
- Global Talent Visa: For internationally recognised leaders in academia, research, arts, culture, or digital technology. No job offer required — endorsement by a Home Office body required.
- Health and Care Worker Visa: Sub-category of Skilled Worker for doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals. Reduced fees and exempt from Immigration Health Surcharge.
- Graduate Visa: For international students who completed a UK degree. 2 years work rights (3 for PhD) without requiring employer sponsorship.
- Scale-up Worker Visa: For workers joining a fast-growing UK business. After 6 months, free to work for any employer.
